Our Mission

Reduce Demolition
Sent to a Landfill

Encourage Deconstruction
Rescue and Repurpose

Architectural Salvage Network seeks to match many more of our endangered Architectural Salvage Artifacts and Great Old Buildings with Heritage Minded Projects going forth today.

Architectural Salvage Network further seeks to increase the number of artifacts which successfully take their place into the 21st century by creating a paradigm shift in the way America approaches the use of endangered American artifacts for project use.

To this end, we encourage would-be-stewards to actively explore specific available buildings and artifacts during the early conceptual phases, before pencil begins to meet paper, with a “design while you find” philosophy.

Why is this our mission?

Architectural Salvage and Old Buildings continue to march toward the landfill:

The salvage yards which might take them are often full.

Why? Architectural Salvage that does make it to architectural salvage yards, often does not move out of those yards as well as it might, because using architectural salvage is a thought often considered only after design drawings are nearly complete.

Approaching the idea of using Architectural Salvage in the early stages of a project’s conceptualization maximizes the matchmaking possibilities while choosing among the vast number of items in inventory, while design options are abundant. Approaching the artistic integration of Architectural Salvage into a project with fully mature drawings in hand makes it more difficult to locate a building or artifact which not only appeals, but also works aesthetically and logistically within the narrow parameters dictated by the drawings. However, it can be done.

Being surrounded by the fine Craftsmanship of our Architectural Heritage inspires us and lifts our spirits.

Americans want more from a home than a place to live.

We don't demand enough of the homes we create. We hunger to be surrounded by integrity and craftsmanship and historic ambiance.

In these frantic times we long for a true homestead, a shelter that embodies those times in our history when our greatest treasures were each other, community, togetherness, hard work, self-reliance and tradition.

We want these values to permeate our family life. We want these values to anchor our communities. A good home can strengthen and inspire us.

You're the steward!

Hats off to you as you commit yourself emotionally, intellectually and financially to a project that ultimately benefits us all. It takes commitment, endurance, resourcefulness, deep caring and a sense of higher purpose on your part to do what you’re doing.

The rewards for being the guide and caretaker of an historic project or a beautiful new building are abundant and enduring. All thanks and admiration to you. Architectural Salvage Network supports your stewardship!
